I haven't cornered the market on middle age. yet.
However, I will bore you with some of my most astute observations on the winter months when you are no longer youthful.
The cold is colder and achier (is that how you spell more achey?).
You can't spell as well.
You have less tolerance for cold cars.
Let's just say you have less tolearance. full stop.
It's harder to sleep. it's harder to get up in the morning.
Things in general are harder. full stop.
Except my muscles, which have turned to pudding. seemingly overnight.
I have Oprah arms where there were once toned bands of steel.
And everything else is lower. slower. and less tolerable.
If I have a drink with dinner (to ward off the cold) I feel it's effects for days where once I could drink all night, work all day the next day and drink all night AGAIN (you know, to ward off the cold). Same thing with Volleyball. In fact, Buddah will correct me if I'm wrong, we used to play volleyball, then drink all night, then work all day the next day and then play volleyball and drink all night AGAIN the next night. We were amazons.
Amazons no more.
The cold is colder and achier (is that how you spell more achey?)
You forget that people didn't laugh the first time so you try jokes again.
Youth is the period in a woman can be hopeless. The end of every episode is the end of the world. But the power of hoping through everything, the knowledge that the soul survives its adventures, that good inspiration comes to the middle-aged. G.K. Chesterton
