The kids are a little irritable, could it be because they got zero sleep waiting for Santa and then ate a steady diet of chocolate and sugar all day yesterday? Nah.
The day after Christmas is interesting because at midnight all the decorations become garish. Literally, I woke up this morning and I couldn't bring myself to drink the "Christmas Blend".
Where does all that sparkle go so quickly?
I know, I know there are a lot of you looking forward to the New Year's Eve festivities but it's still not the same is it? The magic evaporates after Christmas and we are left with the clean up.
It's a hangover really. Too many cookies, too many glasses of whatever, and too little exercise and vegetables (or at least ones that aren't slathered in some amazing dip).
And I mourn the passing of each year's Christmas because the girls will only be this age once....this was the only shot I had at a Christmas with them at this particular developmental stage. They will never again be excited in exactly the same way about Pokemon, funky hats, baby dolls, Build-a-Bear gift certificates and Santa's cookies.
Okay, that's enough melancholy for one post. Back to cheerful snarkiness tomorrow. I promise.
